SOLO EXHIBITION
7 MARCH - 31 MARCH 2019
Claude Chandler had an eventful two years since his last solo exhibition in 2017. The list includes an artist’s residency in Germany which lead to gallery representation in Europe, exhibiting in Paris at the prestigious AKAA Art Fair and now, getting married.
Thursday 7 March sees the opening of a new solo exhibition, his fourth since 2015 when WORLDART hosted his first show. The exhibition will be titled Hyperlink and will run till 28 March.
Chandler has the following to say about this show:
“ In 2012 I moved to Cape Town to begin a new life and pursue my fine art career. During that year, I created a painting that featured Donald Duck and two of my cousins. This artwork would later become a very important personal piece as it marked the presence of important events that marked my life that year.
I looked back at this painting as the starting point/basis for this exhibition. I wanted to create a time-line of artworks leading up to my recent marriage. In a way this is an altered and manipulated personal retrospective. I have transformed and revisited previous works and themes which I viewed as landmarks in my personal life or artistic career. The paintings became hyperlinks feeding into one another.”
